This blog is intended as an organized weekly plan of things to do with your young children. This is the plan we use, however due to life happening, we generally do not get through everything listed for the week. Some weeks when we have more time available than planned for, we pull things from previous weeks that we didn't get to or that we really enjoyed.

Please use these plans as a guide and not as a rigid to do list. If the weather is good, please go out and enjoy it and don't feel you need to do anything I suggested. Adapt the items as necessary to meet your families' needs.

Please use wisdom in doing these activities as I am not liable for anything that may happen to anyone in the performance or avoidance of doing these activities.

January 26 - February 1 -- Penguins

Song"Have You Ever Seen A Penguin" or "Five Little Penguins". I found both of these on YouTube.

MondayPenguin boxes Make cute boxes that look like penguins with an open mouth. Could also make the mouth from construction paper (see game tomorrow)..  Supplies: Carboard box, paintbrushes, paint, scissors, construction paper, markers, tape, googly eyes (optional).
Active moment: Do the activities to "Have You Ever Seen A Penguin" as you sing along.

TuesdayFeed the penguin game Play the feed the penguin game with the penguins you made yesterday..  Supplies: Penguin to feed (from yesterday), items to feed the penguins (ex: shape fish or number fish made using construction paper and markers).
Active moment: Learn some of the Cha-cha. It involves some hip wiggling, kind of like a penguin waddle. This link has some fun ideas of implementing it. You probably want to learn the basic step by yourself (YouTube has a lot of tutorials) and then teach you children

WednesdayPenguins and igloos from building blocks Use your building blocks to make all things penguin. Here's a >picture to get your imagination going..  Supplies: Building blocks and your imagination.
Active moment: Pretend you are going on an expidition to find Penguins, Polar Bears and other such animals. Pretend you have to take a row boat to get there and do the seated row (without weights).

ThursdayPenguin footprints Make an adorable penguin picture using the kids (and your) footprints. I couldn't find the original site, but I thought this picture would give you enough of an idea you could do it yourself..  Supplies: Bare foot, paint (black, white, orange), paint brush, glue, googly eyes.
Active moment: Penguin races or even relay races. See who can waddle from one end of the room the fastest. Hold a fish (bean bag) under your neck and do it again. Then do it like a relay with having to pass off the fish to the next person. The giggle about how funny it all is

FridayWater bottle penguins Reuse those water bottles to make some fun penguins. Again, I couldn't find the original source, but I thought the image showed enough detail you would be fine..  Supplies: Empty water bottle, black paint or tape or even construction paper, orange feather (from store or make from construction paper), glue, googly eyes, construction paper (black and orange), cotton balls or white paper..
Active moment: Chase the penguin (tag). Have someone be the polar bear (it) and chase the penguins. Keep the chase confined to the iceberg (room, rug or any area you define).
